Songs I wrote 10 years ago

christmas cheese whizOne of the awesome things about going home for Christmas is that your dad digs up things buried in old books that have been hidden for a decade. Like the lyrics to two of my original compositions, “Adelmice” and “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Cheese Whiz?” Both are to be sung to tunes from an obscure, long-lost musical titled “The Sound of Music.” Sing them. LOVE THEM.

Adelmice

Adelmice, adelmice, crawling over my slipper
Adelmice, small and white, together we watch the Big Dipper
Cheese and toothpaste we love to munch
munch, munch, munch, till morning
Adelmice, adelmice; tails so smooth and so slender

(Beautiful, right?)

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Cheese Whiz?

How do you solve a problem like Cheese Whiz?
How do you get a clump and spread it out?
How do you solve a problem like Cheese Whiz?
It globs and it gloops; it blobs and it bloops; a mess!
Oh… many a thing I often try to tell it (“Stupid Cheese Whiz!”)
Many a thing it cannot understand (“Don’t hurt meeeee!”)
Oh… how do you make it spray?
And stay on your cracker all day?
Oh, how do you hold a glob right in your hand?
Oh, how do you solve a problem like Cheese Whiz?!
How do you spray it out of that metal can?
