YES, I watched Sex & the City prequel The Carrie Diaries. Judge away. Now that THAT’s outta your system, be completely inspired by Freema Agyeman’s fashion! You may know her as Martha on Doctor Who with David Tennant, but in The Carrie Diaries she plays Larissa Loughton, a supremely fashionable, over-the-top editor at Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine in 1985.
I mean, seriously. LOOK AT THAT OUTFIT.
Agyeman’s character singlehandedly made me fall in love with harem pants (dunno if the above blue ones have enough of a drop-crotch to TECHnically be harem pants, but whatev). She wears SHINY, BEAUTIFUL FABRICS and fun (sometimes fugly) patterns and mounds of jewelry. Her outfits always accentuate her natural waist — still a concept I’m trying to grasp after coming of age during Low-Rise Hell — without verging into Cutesy, Twee Modcloth Territory the way Carrie’s A-line skirts do.
Did I mention the veritable MOUNTAINS of accessories? Because they deserve a collage of their own:
She also rocks some crazy jackets.
Lest you think she and/or her costumer has attained fashion deity status, there are also these unfortunate numbers (DENIM JUMPSUIT WHYYY):
But overall, it’s worth watching The Carrie Diaries on mute, just for her. ❤
